Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
A further three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Moment
This match provided a chance for several Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.
Dominance Established from the Outset
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee dismissed the protests.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
