In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
